Wintergreen is a herb with aromatic qualities used for various purposes.
But to me, here is a sample of how your lawn can contribute to your sense of well-being in the winter- at least before the snow covers the lawns.
It is a day or two before Christmas Day, and it looks like we are not going to have a White Christmas. So if not a White Christmas, then it is referred to as a Green Christmas.
But if your lawn is all brown- can you full enjoy a Green Christmas? Now maybe a White Christmas is preferable to a Green Christmas, but a Green Christmas is surely more enjoyable than a brown Christmas.
So I took a couple of quick photos of a Turf King lawn that got a Turf King winter fertilization done this fall about the end of Octoberl. The lawn is relatively new. The sod was put down in the middle of July.

As you can see there is a noticeable difference in the health and quality of a lawn that has been started on a Turf King lawn care program.
Except it looks like the puppy fed a small circle of the lawn to at least keep that small piece green.

In lawn care, one of the great mysteries is how to grow a lawn from seed. It is not difficult even in situations that are not necessarily ideal.
On Sept 8th, I decided to plant some grass between a couple of bed of garlic that had been planted earlier. The 2 garlic beds have some mesh placed over them to keep the squirrels from digging in the beds.
Now these next 3 photos are taken 15 days after the seed was initially scattered on the ground.
I only watered the seed about 2-3 times. Fortunately, autumn is the best time of year to seed as this is the natural time for grass seed to grow. Grasses most often flower and go to seed in the summer and by the fall the seeds are ready to start to grow. In September, the weather is also ideal. The nights are cooler and we generally get more rain. Any moisture that is applied or falls as rain is less likely to dry up and evaporate with the cooler fall days.
Here you can see all the gravel that is in the pathway. Not an ideal soil for a lawn.
You can also see the pattern of the scratch marks made by the hoe. The seed of course grew better in the bottom of the scruffings as there is more moisture there.
